"Design Thinking". A term that has been thrown around from speedy start ups, design agencies and all the way to large corporates, everyone claims to be doing “it”, so much so that it has pretty much lost its meaning. When done right Design Thinking enables you to think more strategically and tackle large, complex challenges. It’s a proven and repeatable methodology that combines creative and critical thinking to provide a structure to solve a whole range of problems. There's also a suboptimal way to use designing thinking, it usually involves a flurry of post-it notes that go nowhere.

Following a brief introduction to Design Thinking and it’s core principles, designer & strategist Alex Durussel-Baker of Korero Studio will take participants through a full cycle of applying Design Thinking tools and processes to a given brief.

With a bias towards action, this fast paced workshop will teach you the fundamentals of Design Thinking; including methods for rapidly building empathy for your target user, generating solutions and tools for synthesis and decision making - all of which can be applied to advance your work, life and interests.

What will be covered?

  • What is Design Thinking and why should I care?
  • Learn a process you can apply to any problem
  • Learn how to recognise when and why you are stuck in a project and what to do about it
  • Learn basics of insight gathering, visual thinking and how to have a prototyping mindset
  • How to develop innovative products and services by keeping your target’s needs at the centre of your creative process
